But JB as a marketing major I can see what you are saying and I guess it does make sense for a corporation. Super Wal-Mart's have cropped up all over the place now and will definitely start eat at Meijer's customers. I don't know where I'm going to shop now though, it will be hard to get all the deals I need, I'm in Oakland County and thus I'm not close to half of the other stores that have match ups on this site. I did email Meijer's though expressing my disappointment in the ad.Staying Leanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05144254858061633899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7190015557376477173.post-57990888171649177472009-10-06T10:18:57.914-04:002009-10-06T10:18:57.914-04:00I love all the deals that Meijer has been having a...I love all the deals that Meijer has been having and I love supporting a Michigan company. But I agree that the sales ads can be overwhelming- that is why I just print the match ups from this site and bring the ad along as a reference. Kronger's employed a similar strategy in much of the rest of the country -- lower everyday prices complimented by volume-driven multi-week sales -- in order to fend off Walmart. It sucks for us deal seekers who seek out, print & clip store/manuf coupons to get Boston Market meals for 80 cents each -- in groups of four on one Saturday only -- but makes sense for the average shopper who forgets their coupons at home, buys groceries weekly (as opposed to stocking up) and sees a $3.29 sticker price at Meijer and $2.50 at Walmart. <br /><br />Looks like the future of Meijer is the chain leveraging its store locations (generally better placed than Walmart, since Meijer was here first), upgrading its produce-meat/deli/seafood-bakery product (see Auburn Hills), promoting lower prices (more competitive with Walmart) and offering a handful of sale prices to get people into the stores.<br /><br />(Worth mentioning that Walmart also offers sales... small shrimp rings were $2.50 and Healthy Choice entrees were between $1.40-$1.70 yesterday.)JBnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7190015557376477173.post-75894766123304010282009-10-03T08:35:58.688-04:002009-10-03T08:35:58.688-04:00If you have an Entertainment Book and you used the...If you have an Entertainment Book and you used the $5 off your next Meijer brand purchase when you spend $50 today, the $5 would come in handy next week with all the Meijer brand deals.juliehttp://www.dailycastle.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
