2009 U-PICK GUIDE - MACOMB COUNTY

Farms may or may not be open this time of year. Call ahead to find out about availabili­ty and picking times before heading out.

ALTERMATT FARMS, GREEN­HOUSE, STRAWBERRIES & FARM MARKET
What: Ready-picked strawberries. No U-pick. Farm market opens Aug. 1 and offers seasonal vegetables.
Where: 16580 Twenty-Five Mile, Macomb Township.
When: 9 a.m.-8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m-­6 p.m. weekends, May through October.

BLAKE’ S ORCHARD & CIDER MILL
What: U-pick strawberries, tart cherries, raspberries, peaches, Bosc and Bartlett pears, tomatoes, peppers and snap peas. Also ready-picked fruits and vegetables.
Where: 17985 Armada Center Road, Arma­da.
When: 8 a.m.-6 p.m. daily, starting mid­June.

What: U-pick strawberries, raspberries, sweet cherries, apples and pumpkins.

WESTVIEW ORCHARDS & CIDER MILL OF ROMEO
What: U-pick sweet cherries will start at the end of June and usually run to mid-July; tart cherries will be available around July 4. Peach season will start in early August with U-pick on weekends only. Sweet corn and fall vegetables from squash to winter cabbage are available at the farm market.

VERELLEN ORCHARDS & CIDER MILL
What: U-pick strawberries and cherries only. Baked goods every day. In-season vegetables and fruits, including apples, peaches, plums, prunes and grapes.

When: 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Sat.-Sun.

  1. Thanks for this great post! We were just talking about finding a u-pick place. Folks might want to check their "junk mail" (Value Pak, Save on Everything magazine, etc.) for coupons to Blake's. I found some for $1 off strawberry flat and for 1/2 dozen free donuts wyb a flat of strawberries, cherries or raspberries.
