Recipe: Rainbow 12 Layer Jell-O Ring

Thanks to Rachel for sharing this recipe. My grandmother used to make this salad in a 9x13" pan and I can vouch that it is addicting! Use red and green flavors to make it look festive for Christmas!

RAINBOW 12 Layer Jell-O Ring

6 boxes of Jell-O (lemon, lime, orange, strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry)
16 oz. plain yogurt OR sour cream

  1. Dissolve 1 box Jell-O with 1 cup boiling water. Pour 3/4 cup into a ring mold (I use a bundt pan), then chill to set, about 15 minutes.

  2. Mix the remaining 1/4 cup Jell-O with 3 Tablespoons of yogurt or sour cream. GENTLY pour on top.

  3. Chill until set and repeat. Repeat until all 6 flavors/layers are complete.

Notes from Rachel: Don't rush it. It is BEAUtiful when completed and a crowd favorite! I use this recipe every holiday for a DELICIOUS Jell-O...and it always seems to be on sale! The photo is my own but the recipe comes from an old Jell-O cookbook. SO YUMMY!

  1. My husband's Grandma is known for this beautiful dessert as well!

I am known for making just rainbow layered Jello jiggler squares (no yogurt layers) for Super Bowl parties- but the white layers make the dessert look so much prettier!

Remind me to tell you my Jello story the next time I see you... and I'll bring you a few boxes (wink!!!).

  2. Which goes over or taste better, the sour cream or yogurt?

  3. My son makes a version of this every year for Thanksgiving dinner. We use evaporated milk instead of sour cream, but I'm sure it is pretty close to the same thing.

  4. We always do the jello dessert with the buttery crushed pretzels on the bottom. It sounds really gross, but it is so good.
